The Four Horsemen

Well, hey, it was one thing after another this fall, huh? I was seriously wondering whether or not it was the oncoming apocalypse. Well, I suppose that could still be the case, but hey, there's really not much I can do about an apocalypse, right? Best to be merry.
Of course, I don't mean Christmas merry, because heaven knows, there's a lot of holiday to be had before then. Halloween season is well underway. Perhaps the four horsemen would be a good team Halloween costume!

There was an amazing H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland the weekend before last, and as it is an annual event, I must recommend it to anyone who can attend in the future. It was held at the Hollywood Theatre, an incredible nonprofit place (another thing I must recommend is supporting any independent theaters you may have left in your town---or nonprofits, should you be so lucky!)

One popular festival award-winner was the 47-minute film The Call of Cthulhu, a fabulous and fun film adaptation of the 1926 Lovecraft story. The filmmakers stuck to a period feeling and created a silent film with a distinctly vintage look to it, created using a "Mythoscope" process they devised. Of course, I had to have a copy, and I heartily suggest you check it out (take a look at the trailer) and see if you want one as well. The impassioned artists of the world always need your support! The Lovecraft-lovers who created it also have plenty of other amusing diversions to offer. Ah, how perfectly Halloweeny.

And now I must be off, before I turn into a pumpkin.
